Restrictions on child visitation
In situations where, unfortunately, you may have one parent who is less than ideal and who has some issues, courts have a lot of discretion as to how to provide access for that parent to the child. Frequently, we will see that parent having what we call supervised visitation, meaning that they are never alone with the child, that there is another responsible adult that is present at all times during the visitation. Sometimes we have parents who don’t get along to the degree that the exchanges of the child are are filled with drama. And in those situations, sometimes we’ll see the exchanges taking place in a public place, sometimes even the police station. to ensure that the level of drama remains pretty low. Some areas even have provided that periods of possession will begin and end at the time school starts and school lets out so that the parents never have to see each other.
