Preparing for a child custody case
The clients can be extremely helpful to attorneys in preparation for custody trials. I encourage clients to keep journals, to keep calendars, to keep notes simply because over time memory tends to fail us. I find it very helpful if clients can provide a list of witnesses, complete with their names, their addresses, their phone numbers and also a brief description as to the knowledge that that particular witness might have. I think it’s also helpful if clients contact those witnesses before the attorney contacts them to kind of prepare the witness for a tele- — for receiving a telephone call from an attorney. Those are just a few of the things that clients can do to help the lawyer prepare for trial.
