Spending child-support payments

In many cases, for instance, in a case where a husband pays child support — maybe prior to paying child support they were separated. He had been paying for lunches for the children, clothes for the children, tuition at school, school money, whatever it might be. Basically, that needs to stop once child support is stopped. You can continue to do that, but it will be considered a gift. You have to pay through the Child Support Disbursement Unit which has an accounting of all the payments that you make when you pay child support. So when child support is paid to the other party, let’s say the wife in this situation, she can spend it basically on anything, but it’s primarily to go to the child’s housing, food, electricity, tuition fees, after-school activities, clothes, everything. And then when in this type of situation if the husband would have the children, he would have to pay for things when he has possession of the children.
