Using independent counsel for premarital agreements

Preparing and negotiating a premarital agreement, it’s imperative that each party have independent legal advice. Oftentimes, the agreements are prepared because one party will hire a lawyer and say, “I’m getting married. I want to premarital agreement,” and that party — then you will — the attorney will draft the agreement but at that point tells the party to tell their intended they must go hire an attorney and sit down and review all of this with them.
